What discussions has the Cabinet Secretary had with local authorities regarding the frequency in which business properties are inspected for business rate purposes?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Welsh Language
The collection and administration of local taxes is a key function of local authorities, therefore the frequency of inspections for business rates purposes are matters for them.
There are existing mechanisms, such as the Finance Sub Group of the Partnership Council for Wales, through which I engage with local authority leaders on a range of matters, including local taxes. My officials also regularly engage with local authority Revenues and Benefits Managers, who are responsible for the administration of non-domestic rates.
