What consideration has been given to aligning the lifespan of local development plans so that they are identical throughout Wales, with a view to providing opportunities for better coherence and joint strategic planning including in terms of population projections and the estimated need for homes?

Atebwyd gan Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning
Strategic Development Plans (SDPs) have been introduced to provide better coherence and outcomes, including in terms of population projections and the estimated need for homes. Following the adoption of SDPs by Corporate Joint Committees, Local Development Plans (LDPs) will need to be in general conformity with SDPs ensuring better coherence and outcomes across the region. Until that time, LDPs will continue to reflect previously adopted plan periods which is necessary to ensure a plan-led approach and effective decision making.
