How is the Welsh Government working with organisations including Google, Facebook and Twitter to tackle hate crime and misinformation?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Trefnydd and Chief Whip
Despite the fact that ‘Internet services’ is a reserved matter, and the Welsh Government does not have the regulatory powers to compel action to tackle hate crime and misinformation, we meet with a range of social media platforms to raise matters about how platforms are used to spread hate and misinformation in Wales.
We will continue to meet the platforms and work via Ofcom to help Welsh users stay safe online because the safety and wellbeing of people in Wales is vitally important to the Welsh Government.
