What monitoring does the Welsh Government undertake of the condition of major roads which are the responsibility of a local authority but which provide a key link to the motorway and trunk road network, such as the section of the A4232 between Penarth and Culverhouse Cross?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales
We do not monitor the condition of Local Authority roads which link to our network. As highway authorities all local authorities have responsibility under the Highways Act 1980 to maintain and improve their networks. Unexpected and emergency repairs can be required at any time. The member could approach the WLGA for information on how local authorities monitor the condition of local roads.
