Will the Cabinet Secretary confirm if the Welsh Government has withdrawn funding for Technocamps?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Cabinet Secretary for Education
We have not withdrawn funding from Technocamps. All funding under our grant arrangement with Technocamps has been paid.
We increased Technocamps’ funding by £100,000, extending their existing grant to the end of the academic year. This was to allow them to meet bookings with schools. It was made very clear to Technocamps that there was no guarantee of future funding beyond this.
Technocamps had two opportunities to apply for new funding under the computing and digital skills priority of the Curriculum for Wales Grant Support Programme, but was unsuccessful on both occasions. Their proposals did not sufficiently reflect the priorities set out in the published specification under this competitive process, which focused on professional learning and building system capacity. Therefore a new funding offer was not made.
