How is the Welsh Government working with health boards to support young people with Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (PoTS) to ensure they do not miss a significant number of their school days?

The Welsh Government expects the NHS in Wales to deliver care in line with clinical guidelines for Postural Tachycardia Syndrome. The condition is well recognised by NHS services and there are clear diagnosis and management guidelines. I expect GPs to be able to recognise the potential for the condition and to make a referral to cardiology – and when necessary, paediatrics – for further investigation and treatment. Where appropriate, and alongside or following clinical assessment and diagnosis, provision for some people with Postural Tachycardia Syndrome is being incorporated into Adferiad (Recovery) funded services. Adferiad is the name given to services established with Welsh Government funding as part of our response to the pandemic.
