What consideration has the Welsh Government given to providing COVID booster vaccinations to individuals with multiple sclerosis?

In determining eligibility for COVID-19 vaccination we are guided by the latest clinical and scientific advice from the independent Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI). In Wales, as in all UK nations, we accepted JCVI advice for the autumn 2025 COVID-19 vaccination programme to target those groups who remain at highest risk of serious disease (hospitalisation and mortality) from COVID-19. These are the oldest adults (75 years and over), residents in a care home for older adults, and individuals who are immunosuppressed (as defined in COVID-19: the Green Book chapter). People living with multiple sclerosis may be eligible for COVID-19 vaccination if they are classed as immunosuppressed but this would be a clinical decision made by their doctor or specialist.
The JCVI continues to 1review eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccination programme. We will continue to be guided by this advice to ensure we address future public health needs.
