Will the Cabinet Secretary confirm whether Welsh Government funding provided to Aston Martin included conditions around long-term employment and job security?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning
The Welsh Government financially supported Aston Martin to establish itself in Wales and support its ambitions for Bro Tathan. The Welsh Government awarded Aston Martin grants of £18.8 million linked to job creation, skills training and research and development targets, and also supported them through COVID with £690,000 from the Covid-19 Large Business Fund.
As in all cases of Welsh Government support, there are clear conditions relating to the assistance Aston Martin has received and we will consider whether any repayment is appropriate, once the outcome of the consultation is known.
