Further to WQ97795, how is the Welsh Government working with independent providers to build extra capacity and facilities within Wales to reduce ophthalmology waiting lists?

As set out in my response to WQ97795, the NHS is on track to deliver 20,000 additional cataract procedures in 2025-26. This is being supported by £29m from the £120m plan to reduce long waiting times.
This investment has been provided with the clear expectation health boards work to increase core cataract capacity as part of national efficiency and productivity targets.
Additional capacity in 2025-26 is being delivered by the NHS with the support of the independent sector. The amount of support needed is determined via the commissioning arrangements of individual NHS organisations.
