Will the Welsh Government launch their own scheme so that listed places of worship in Wales are supported to the same extent as in England under the UK Government's new Places of Worship fund, which is replacing the UK-wide Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme?

The UK Government’s new Places of Worship Renewal Fund will only be available to listed places of worship in England. In Wales, heritage is a devolved matter, and the Welsh Government is currently considering the implications of the closure of the UK wide Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme. Cadw continues to support historic places of worship through existing grant programmes, including funding for buildings at risk, regeneration, and partnerships with third sector organisations.
Work is underway to evaluate future options and determine the most effective ways to support listed places of worship in Wales.
