Ateb
Atebwyd gan Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government
It is the responsibility of Local Authorities to undertake a periodical review of housing need, discharged through the Local Housing Market Assessment (LHMA) process. These assessments are also particularly important to the evidence base for Local Development Plans (LDPs) and play a vital part in delivering market and affordable housing to meet housing need.
We have invested a record £2bn funding in affordable housing this Senedd term to support LAs address housing need. In addition, our successful market housing schemes such as Help to Buy – Wales (HtBW) have continued, despite the previous UK Government ending Help to Buy in England in March 2023. Since April 2022, 85% of Help to Buy - Wales purchasers have been first time buyers.
