What measures is the Welsh Government taking to assess whether the additional learning needs system delivers on its promise of being learner-centred and improving well-being and learning outcomes?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Cabinet Secretary for Education
An extensive programme of research and evidence is in place to actively monitor implementation of the ALN system. This includes a four-year formative evaluation, a series of Estyn thematic reviews of the implementation of the ALN system, alongside evaluation of the Curriculum for Wales. We have also reviewed the ALN legislative framework and have consulted on and amended regulations so that we can collect new data on ALN through our statutory data collections.
Based on the findings from the review and evaluation undertaken thus far, I announced in October actions aimed at strengthening the clarity, consistency and delivery of the ALN system.
