What progress has been made in implementing the Women’s Health Plan commitments on education and training for healthcare practitioners on endometriosis and adenomyosis?

Improvements to education and training on endometriosis and adenomyosis are being made. We have funded the Endometriosis Cymru website, which includes resources, information and support about the condition and a symptom tracker tool.
In March last year, Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) ran an expert-led GP training webinar on endometriosis to support earlier symptom recognition. Feedback from participants indicated improved knowledge and greater confidence among participating GP’s in discussing symptoms and treatment options.
To further upskill the workforce and improve the quality of women’s care and diagnosis, HEIW are developing additional training modules which will be available to all staff (and external) via the Y Ty Dysgu platform –endometriosis is included. The Introductory module is already available and the Fundamentals in Endometriosis module will be available by end of March 2026.
In December, learning materials for school nurses to use in secondary schools were launched to support awareness, understanding and management of key areas of women’s health, including endometriosis.
