What discussions is the Cabinet Secretary having with health boards to avoid corridor care?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care
The routine delivery of care in undesignated or non-clinical environments is not acceptable.
I have set clear expectations for health boards to improve patient flow through the health and care system, in line with the Six Goals for Urgent and Emergency Care programme.
Health boards are responsible for how they plan and deliver their services to meet the needs of their populations and ensure a betterment of both outcomes and experience. I hold regular discussions with health board Chairs through national performance and escalation arrangements, in which we address urgent and emergency care pressures and service delivery, including preventing care in non-clinical environments.
New data reporting and oversight systems launched during the winter sprints are providing a clearer picture of the overall system. This includes the prevalence of care in temporary and non-clinical spaces.
