There are eight sites across Wales operating surgical hubs, based on the current accreditation criteria aligned with GIRFT standards used in NHS England. The formal accreditation process will be undertaken over the coming months.
The eight sites are:
· St Woolos Hospital, Newport – orthopaedic surgery
· Llandough Hospital – orthopaedic surgery and regional cataract surgical centre for South East Wales
· Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend – orthopaedic surgery
· Neath Port Talbot Hospital – orthopaedic surgery
· Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli – orthopaedic and general surgery
· Abergele Hospital – orthopaedic and cataract surgery
· Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny – regional cataract surgical centre for South East Wales
· Amman Valley Hospital – cataract surgery
Two more centres are due to open – the North Wales Surgical Centre at Llandudno Hospital and Llantrisant Health Park.
