How many properties in Wales remain unable to access broadband speeds above 30Mbps, and what measures are in place to provide improved internet connectivity solutions?

Atebwyd gan Cabinet Minister for Enterprise, Connectivity and Energy (Adam Price)
According to the latest data from Ofcom in its Connected Nations Update Spring 2026, 4% of premises in Wales remain unable to access broadband speeds above 30Mbps.
A 2022 review undertaken by the Welsh Government identified around 84,000 premises that could not access superfast download speeds (at least 30Mbps), and that are not in any plans to be addressed commercially. The number of premises has likely reduced as consequence of commercial public funded deployments, and we currently estimate that the number of premises is now in the region of 25,000-30,000.
Responsibility for improving broadband connectivity in Wales where the market does not reach, rests with the UK Government.
