What discussions has the Welsh Government had with Great Western Railway regarding the extension of pay-as-you-go contactless ticketing to Bridgend and the wider Pen-y-bont area?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Deputy Minister for Transport (Mark Hooper)
Great Western Railway currently refuse to allow passengers to use Transport for Wales’ innovative and beneficial pay-as-you-go ticketing offer to travel on their services to Bridgend or to other stations in South East Wales.
The benefits to passengers from all services in South East Wales accepting pay-as-you-go ticketing would be significant. Welsh Government and Transport for Wales are continuing to engage with both the UK Government and Great Western Railway to strongly encourage uptake of this ticketing offer.
