In light of the Welsh Government's commitment to strengthening equality, what assessment has it made of the current pay and conditions for school support staff, who are predominantly women, and what consideration has it given to establishing a Wales school support staff negotiating body?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Cabinet Minister for Education and the Welsh Language (Anna Brychan)
School support staff are a key and valued part of our education workforce, and we recognise the need to improve their pay and conditions as well as professional learning, in line with our manifesto commitment to support and grow our education workforce.
The pay and conditions of all school support staff are the responsibility of local authorities. The Welsh Government will work with them and with our other social partners to consider all options, including the potential for a school support staff negotiating body.
