Following the introduction of the new voting system for Senedd elections: a) what was the proportion of rejected or spoilt ballots at the 2026 election; b) what proportion had the Welsh Government forecast; c) how do both figures compare with previous elections, and d) what assessment has the Welsh Government made of any difference?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Cabinet Minister for Government Effectiveness & the Constitution (Dafydd Trystan Davies)
The Welsh Government notes that the proportion of rejected or spoilt ballot papers at the most recent Senedd election in 2026 was 0.24%, compared with 0.61% of constituency ballots and 0.79% of regional ballots in the 2021 election.
While there was no forecast ahead of time, we welcome that fewer ballots were rejected or spoilt at the most recent election.
