Will the Cabinet Minister provide an update on the status of the recommendation 13 of the Ministerial Advisory Group to collect and publish granular tumour-level performance data from the start of the 2026-27 financial year, which was accepted by the previous Welsh Government?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Cabinet Minister for Health and Care (Mabon ap Gwynfor)
The previous administration committed to collecting and publishing sub-tumour level performance data as part of a wider cancer data development roadmap. The roadmap was commissioned by the National Cancer Leadership Board in March 2025 and approved by the Board in December 2025.
Digital Health and Care Wales presented implementation options to the Board in February and April 2026. The preferred option was then discussed with NHS Directors of Digital on 6 May, and work is underway to identify the data governance and linkages that will be required to achieve this as part of the requirements in the forthcoming National Cancer Plan.
Delivery of the cancer data development roadmap has also been included in Digital Health and Care Wales’ remit letter for 2026-27.
