Does the Welsh Government support Cardiff Council's proposed workplace parking levy, and if so, does it support other councils making such a move?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Deputy Minister for Transport (Mark Hooper)
Workplace parking levies are provided for under the Transport Act 2000, but the detailed legislative framework required to enable such schemes has not yet been made in Wales.
Any proposal would be a matter for the relevant local authority to develop and assess, taking account of local circumstances, statutory requirements, consultation, and the potential impacts on businesses and individuals.
If a local authority wished to proceed with a scheme, Welsh Ministers would need to consider the legislative and approval requirements at the appropriate stage, informed by the evidence, deliverability of the proposal and the outcome of local consultation.
