The Welsh Government’s 100-day plan commits to the introduction of a Travel and Accommodation Fund for people affected by cancer. My officials have undertaken an options appraisal of the eligibility criteria and delivery methods.
The next steps include engagement with stakeholders such as the NHS Business Services Authority and Young Lives Versus Cancer. My officials have also discussed with the UK Government its commitment to a cancer travel fund, and a follow up meeting has been scheduled.
The Welsh Government does not routinely collect data on the number, conditions, or age range of claims made under the NHS travel reimbursement scheme.
