What consideration has the Welsh Government given to prohibiting pupils from or disciplining them for speaking to one another in their first language during the school day, including break times, lunch periods or other informal periods outside lessons?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Cabinet Minister for Education and the Welsh Language (Anna Brychan)
The Welsh Government considers that learners should be supported to gain skills in Welsh, English and International Languages inside and outside of the classroom. We do not have a policy prohibiting pupils from speaking to each other in their first language.
