What consideration has the Welsh Government given to reinstating a rates relief for small businesses in the leisure sector?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Cabinet Minister for Finance (Elin Jones)
Our manifesto included a range of specific commitments related to the reform of the non-domestic rates system, including improved support for the leisure businesses on which thriving town centres depend. I will set out further details on our proposals in due course.
There are also existing arrangements in the non-domestic rates system which continue to support many leisure businesses. These include Small Business Rates Relief, among the range of permanent reliefs worth more than £200m per year. More than half of properties attract relief, reflecting the composition of the tax-base base in Wales.
