Question
What action is the Welsh Government taking to protect people with suppressed immune systems for whom vaccination against COVID-19 is less effective, particularly in work places, public buildings and on public transport?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Health and Social Services
People with suppressed immune systems will be amongst the most vulnerable to COVID-19 and many will already be on the Shielding Patient List (SPL). Because cases are low in Wales at the moment, those on the SPL are advised to follow the same measures as the rest of the population, including taking up the offer of vaccination and adhering to advice on the wearing of face coverings, handwashing, social distancing and ensuring any enclosed areas are well ventilated. If in work, they should ask their employer to complete a risk assessment for their individual circumstances. Employers are required by law to take steps to make the workplace COVID secure.
