Question
When will the NHS application become available for COVID status certification in Wales and will the application also include access to medical records, the ability to book primary care appointments and request prescriptions, as is the case in England?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Health and Social Services
We are working closely with the UK Government to enable the integration of Welsh citizen data with the NHS App and NHS.UK channels for the purposes of Covid status certification.
My Health Online is available to everyone registered with a GP surgery in Wales. It provides access to a number of services, including booking GP appointments, ordering repeat prescriptions and access to information about allergies and medication. A mobile version of the website provides the same level of functionality as the desktop browser.
A Healthier Wales commits to provide an enhanced digital platform, which will give people greater control and enable them to become more active participants in their health and wellbeing.
We have confirmed funding of £5.4m this year for the Digital Services for Patients and the Public programme. This includes a My Health Online app, which is in the procurement stage. This will enable patients to contribute to and share information about their health and care, manage appointments and communications with professionals and work with others to co-ordinate the care and treatment they need.
This platform will build on lessons learned from the Covid pandemic response.
