Question
What action is the Minister taking to ensure that no NHS workers are worse off financially as a result of the impact of the Welsh Government's coronavirus bonus payments on their benefit entitlements?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Health and Social Services
Benefits are a matter for the Department of Work and Pensions and are non-devolved. Representations were made to DWP, which advised the bonus payments could not be made exempt.
Staff were offered the opportunity to receive the bonus payment in instalments or to opt-out entirely. I do however recognise that this will be disappointing for some individuals.
