Question
In light of the announcement that major road schemes will be put on hold whilst assessing their effect on the climate, will the Minister confirm whether the planned building of the £26.9 million enabling work and bridges, that will go through a nature reserve in Coryton, Cardiff North, is paused?
Answer
Answered by Deputy Minister for Climate Change
The review will consider road schemes on the strategic roads network and funded by transport grants to local authorities. The new roads infrastructure for the Velindre development does not fall under the scope of the roads review.
However, the primary driver of this review is making sure the principles of the Wales Transport Strategy are at the heart of future decision making on new transport schemes. We will be working with partners right across Wales to ensure where decisions are taken on new infrastructure, these principles are fully reflected.
