Question
What consideration has the Welsh Government given to amending planning guidance to support home extensions and annexes to enable families to care for elderly or infirm family members?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Climate Change
Homeowners can make use of generous permitted development rights to undertake alterations and extensions without the need to apply for planning permission. Technical guidance is published on the Welsh Government website to assist homeowners understand the scope of permitted development rights available to them.
Where planning permission is required, it is for the Local Planning Authority to assess the planning impacts of the development and determine the planning application in accordance with the development plan, unless material considerations indicate otherwise.
