Young people looking for an apprenticeship can access advice and guidance via Careers Wales who offer a bilingual, all-age, independent and impartial careers support service. Young people and adults are supported to make positive transitions into employment education and training, including apprenticeships. Young people are also given help to understand the skills required to succeed in the labour market and contribute to the future economy of Wales.

Learners currently undertaking a college course, who may consider apprenticeships as a next step option in their career journey, can also access advice from Welsh Government funded Employment Bureaus situated in each college.

Support is also available via Working Wales which is the single gateway for every 16 to 24 year old in Wales to access the Young Person’s Guarantee, including information and support on Jobs Growth Wales, Communities for Work+ and Apprenticeships. Our comprehensive package brings together programmes designed to provide the right support at the right time, for the diverse needs of young people across Wales

In 2020, we launched the Apprenticeship Vacancy Service (AVS), a web-based resource showcasing apprenticeship vacancies throughout Wales. The service allows individuals to view all current apprenticeship vacancies, allowing them to search and explore opportunities in their language of choice. The platform also includes employer profiles which allow potential apprentices to research employers offer apprenticeships, outlining the benefits and opportunities they have to offer.

The advertising of apprenticeship vacancies for 16-19 year olds has moved to a cyclical process, focused on times when they leave school/college; there are also regular apprenticeship marketing campaigns with the aim to raise the profile of apprenticeships amongst young people.
