Question
Will the Minister provide an update on action being taken to improve road safety on the A494 in Llanbedr Dyffryn Clwyd?
Answer
Answered by Deputy Minister for Climate Change
In September this year, the speed limit on the A494 to the west of Llanbedr Dyffryn Clwyd (DC), as you enter the village, will reduce to 20mph. You can see where we are proposing to keep the 30mph by Order, for the remainder of the village, on our website at Roads affected by changes to the speed limit on restricted roads | DataMapWales (gov.wales).
Llanbedr DC also forms part of a Speed Indicator Device (SID) rotation programme in the area. This programme consists of four signs which are rotated between the following locations – Llanrwst, Llanwrtyd, Llanbedr DC and Loggerheads. Speed indicator signs are in place for a maximum of two weeks and then returned after three months as evidence suggests that SIDs provide a benefit in reducing speeds over a short term period, typically 1 – 2 weeks. Each site shall have a SID operating at their location for a minimum of three times per year.
Surfacing skid resistance work will also take place at this location later in the year.
