Question
What assessment has the Minister made on progress towards the new Made-for-Wales GCSEs?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Education and the Welsh Language
Qualifications Wales announced in June the new suite of Made-for-Wales GCSEs, providing certainty to practitioners, learners and parents on the GCSEs that will be available from 2025 under the Curriculum for Wales.
Qualifications Wales are now working closely with WJEC, who are responsible for designing and developing the new qualifications. Work remains on track for new GCSE specifications to be available to schools in September 2024, in readiness for first teaching from September 2025.
