Question
Will the Minister outline the Welsh Government's reaction and position in relation to the news of Rhyl High School beginning shorter days?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Education and the Welsh Language
This news article does not accurately reflect the position at Rhyl High School.
Like many schools, Rhyl High School have been supporting a high number of learners with emotional based school avoidance, related to mental health and anxiety.
Our understanding through conversations with Denbighshire County Council is that the school has put in place a series of interventions to support learners’ well-being and encourage them back into school, which includes allowing individual learners to start school slightly later in the day.
