Question
What assessment has the Minister made of the impact that decreased livestock numbers will have on the Welsh agricultural industry, in light of Welsh Government modelling that predicts a 122,000 decrease in livestock?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Rural Affairs and North Wales, and Trefnydd
The economic assessment commissioned by the Welsh Government has helped inform the design of the proposed Sustainable Farming Scheme and related consultation.
It is not an assessment of the current consultation content or the likely outcome of the scheme, which will start in 2025. The assessment will be updated following the consultation to support a final decision on the scheme’s introduction. This will consider and report on the consequences for the Welsh agricultural industry.
