Question
Will the Cabinet Secretary outline how community policing is working jointly with North Wales Police to combat cuckooing of vulnerable people in Denbighshire?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Culture and Social Justice
Although policing is a reserved area, the Welsh Government is providing over £15m of funding for Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) in 2024-25. This is funding over and above what forces in England have access to, demonstrating our commitment to keeping Welsh communities safe from practices such as cuckooing. The tasking and deployment of PCSOs is led by police forces, who have operational independence in order to meet the needs of the communities they serve.
