Question
What consideration has the Welsh Government given to appointing a lead local authority to manage all blue badge applications in Wales?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales
Local authorities are legally responsible for the day-to-day administration and enforcement of the Blue Badge scheme, not the Welsh Government. The Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970 makes local authorities responsible for implementing administrative, assessment and enforcement procedures for blue badges in their areas.
