Question
Will the Government ensure the forthcoming bus Bill is created a) in collaboration with local businesses; b) takes into account how timetabling impacts on access to arts, culture and the local economy; and c) ensures regular and reliable services to business hubs and parks, including creative microclusters?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales
As part of the development of our forthcoming bus legislation, Transport for Wales have begun discussions with some key local businesses in the South Wales region, where we plan to rollout bus franchising first. This work is ongoing and will develop as network planning progresses. Proactive engagement with businesses will be an important part of our approach in all regions.
The bus network in each region will be developed collaboratively with local authorities and Corporate Joint Committees. It will also be subject to local consultation with communities, businesses and others to ensure our plans meet the needs of local areas as much as possible.
