Question
Where and how has the mitigation and compensation taken place for the Northern Meadows, and which of the 51 recorded species have been replanted and where, considering the Northern Meadows is listed as a site of importance for nature conservation for neutral grassland?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning
Cardiff Council granted planning permission for development of the new Velindre Hospital in December 2020. The reasoning for the grant of permission and compliance with any conditions attached to it is a matter for the Council. The Welsh Ministers have a statutory role in the planning process and may yet become involved at some point in the future. Given this possibility I cannot comment on the detail of the case.
