Question
Will the Cabinet Secretary reconsider his decision not to visit the Northern Meadows site, given it is likely the biggest loss of an urban designated nature space for a Welsh Government funded project since devolution in 1999?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning
Cardiff Council granted planning permission for development of the new Velindre Hospital in December 2020. The reasoning for the grant of permission and compliance with any conditions attached to it is a matter for the Council. The Welsh Ministers have a statutory role in the planning process and may yet become involved at some point in the future. Given this possibility I cannot comment on the detail of the case.
