Question
What steps is the Welsh Government is taking to protect Welsh livestock following the announcement by Germany to the World Organisation for Animal Health of a confirmed case of foot and mouth disease?
Answer
Answered by Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs
We are working in cooperation across the UK to protect Welsh livestock from the disease spreading. We have robust contingency plans in place to protect farmers and our food security.
Vets and keepers should report suspected Foot and Mouth disease immediately to the Animal and Plant Health Agency. Further guidance is available online: https://www.gov.wales/foot-and-mouth-disease-guide.
