Question
How much funding has the Welsh Government allocated to the National Museum of Wales over the last three calendar years, broken down by year?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Culture, Skills and Social Partnership
The amount of funding Amgueddfa Cymru receives, including from the Welsh Government, is set out in its annual financial report. The reports are publicly available on Amgueddfa Cymru’s website: www.museum.wales/reports. The reports currently published cover the financial years 2007-08 to 2023-24.
Amgueddfa Cymru is allocated funding as part of the Welsh Government’s Final Budget for each financial year. Amgueddfa Cymru has been allocated £26,720,000 revenue and £5,000,000 capital as part of its Grant-in-Aid (GiA) for the financial year 2024-25, including in-year funding.
Amgueddfa Cymru is also awarded additional funding outside of its GiA. For example, in 2024-25, it has been awarded £1,431,000 capital for the redevelopment of the National Slate Museum and £1,305,000 capital for emergency capital works at National Museum Cardiff. The details of Amgueddfa Cymru’s funding received will be set out in its financial report for 2024-25.
