Question
Will the Cabinet Secretary outline what work is being undertaken by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board to urgently bring down urology waiting times at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care
Reducing all long waits is a Welsh Government priority. I have been clear with all health boards that I expect to see continued improvement in all specialities.
At the end of January 2025, across Wales, there was a 69% reduction in two-year urology waits for treatment, and a fall of 33% in one-year outpatient waits since April 2022. In Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, over the same period, there was a 52% reduction in two-year waits and a 34% fall in one-year outpatient waits.
Urology is a challenged speciality for Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. The cancer network has been supporting the health board to identify additional cancer urology capacity while it develops a health board urology plan.
