Question
What action has the Welsh Government taken to incorporate the United Nations Convention for the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination against Women and the UN Convention on the Rights of Disabled People into Welsh law?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Trefnydd and Chief Whip
In my role as Chair of the Human Rights Advisory Group, I established the Legislative Options Working Group (LOWG), which is undertaking a detailed review of both the CEDAW and CRDP’s articles to consider possible legislative and non-legislative approaches to incorporation under devolved powers. A final report giving clear recommendations on how Welsh Government should approach incorporation is expected by December 2025.
