Question
Will the Commission provide a full itemised breakdown of the money spent to date on preparations for Senedd Reform?
Answer
Answered by Senedd Commission
To the end of August, the Commission has spent the following on preparations for Senedd Reform:
Budget Heading
Amount (£m)
Staff costs £0.871
Project costs (estates works) £3.810
Other costs
£0.074
Total
£4.755
The project costs include adaptations to accommodate 36 additional Member offices within Ty Hywel as well, the work to design and reconfigure the main Siambr and to recommission Siambr Hywel as a temporary chamber.
Project works have all been through a competitive tender process to achieve best value for money.
The Siambr has had to be reconfigured based on feedback from Members that ‘1 desk per Member’ was the desired layout. This in turn had implications for accessibility and broadcasting.
The vast majority of equipment bought for Siambr Hywel will be used elsewhere on the estate when Members return to the main Siambr. The approach taken to Siambr Hywel was to avoid nugatory spend where possible and WQ96524 provides more detail on that issue.
