Question
What measures is the Welsh Government taking to ensure that community hospital bed placements remain open to help alleviate pressures on accident and emergency departments during the upcoming winter period?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care
Health boards are responsible for the planning and delivery of health services for their local population; this includes community hospital provision. Health boards have developed winter resilience plans which includes a focus on maximising acute and community hospital bed capacity at times of pressure.
I set out details about how the NHS and social care sector are planning for winter in my oral statement on 7 October.
