Question
What steps will the Welsh Government take to assist Welsh exporters with claiming refunds for fees paid because of illegal tariffs in the USA?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning
No assessment has been made of the amount of money paid by Welsh exporters to US customs as only importers of record who have directly paid tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act 1977 would have been charged, not exporters directly.
As only importers of record may be eligible for refunds, the refund process will be a domestic and legal matter for the United States.
