Question
Will the Cabinet Secretary cooperate with the Vale of Glamorgan Council to assess how access to Welsh language secondary education can be improved for residents living in Llandough and Penarth?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Welsh Language
Regular discussions take place with Vale of Glamorgan Council in relation to progress made on their Welsh in Education Strategic Plan (WESP). The Plan sets out actions the local authority will take to improve the planning of, and access to Welsh-medium primary and secondary education within the local authority area. Ysgol Pen-y-Garth serves the areas of both Llandough and Penarth and in their most recent progress report, the local authority reported a notable improvement in the transfer rates from the school to Ysgol Bro Morgannwg.
