Question
What assessment has the Welsh Government made of local authority financial sustainability for the next three financial years?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Minister for Local Government, Housing and Planning (Siân Gwenllian)
The financial sustainability of each Local Authority over the next three years will depend on a range of factors, including inflation, service demand, funding levels, and decisions relating to service delivery and council tax. Each Authority’s position will also be dependent upon decisions taken in preceding years. The responsibility for managing a Local Authority’s budget including planning over the medium term lies with elected members and senior officers.
