Question
How is the Welsh Government working with developers to accelerate remediation works on residential buildings?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Minister for Local Government, Housing and Planning (Siân Gwenllian)
Signatories to the Welsh Government developer contract have committed to having work started at every development in Wales by December 2026. Their progress towards this target is being closely monitored. If any of them are found to be in breach of the terms of the contract I will be exploring what enforcement action can be taken. I intend to meet developers as soon as possible to emphasise my expectation of increased pace. Diary pressures mean the meeting is unlikely to take place before the summer recess.
I am committed to ensuring leaseholders and all those impacted by concerns about the safety of their homes have their voices heard. I can confirm I will be working with my officials over the summer to identify how the Leaseholder and Resident Forum for Wales can be reviewed and reformed.
