Question
How is the Cabinet Minister measuring progress on ensuring equitable access to talking therapies across all health boards?
Answer
Answered by Deputy Minister for Social Care, Mental Health and Women’s Health (Delyth Jewell)
Health boards provide a range of interventions, including talking therapies. A key aim for our Strategic Programme for Mental Health is to reduce variation between health boards.
To ensure equitable access, we are moving to open access mental health services. The aim is a consistent, person-centred approach across all health boards and we are currently testing the model with a range of demonstrator pilots.
Our Quality Statement for Mental Health sets out the outcomes and standards that define high quality mental health services, and our aim is for this to be delivered consistently across Wales.
